![]() GREEN & GOLD: A TRIBUTE TO THE PORTLAND TIMBERS The Portland Timbers, in conjunction with Alberta Main Street and Art on Alberta, will unveil their new 2013 primary and secondary jerseys on Last Thursday, February 28, 2013. The unveiling will feature an art exhibition, with Timbers inspired art at Alberta Street galleries. Nationally, 12 Major League Soccer teams are unveiling new jerseys in February during “Jersey Week.” Art is the theme of all of the new kits making the Alberta Arts District’s Last Thursday the natural venue to unveil the Portland Timbers’ new kits. Talisman Gallery (1476 NE Alberta St) and The Best Art Gallery in Portland (1468 NE Alberta St) will host the unveiling along with full shows featuring Timbers pieces by local artists. Additionally, attendees can participate in a paint-by-numbers mural that will be displayed at JELD-WEN Field and Art on Alberta’s Red Rover will debut a Timbers installation in front of Talisman Gallery. The show will open on Thursday February 28th, 6 – 9 PM and run through Sunday, March 24, 2013. The exciting part of all this for me is the Red Rover installation I had the pleasure of working on with the Uber-talented Peggy Pfenninger and Eve Connell. This project was so different than any I have done before. It has been a very fun and creative process and collaborating with my pal Peggy has been the icing on the cake. Guardino Gallery (2939 NE Alberta St), Six Days Art Co-op (2724 NE Alberta St), The Make House (1732 NE Alberta St), Antler (1722 NE Alberta St), and Screaming Sky Gallery (1416 NE Alberta St) will all feature one Timbers inspired piece each in addition to their regular shows. The Portland Timbers are providing pedicab transportation between galleries. A percentage of sales will be donated to The Portland Timbers Community Fund, supporting youth education, sports, health and fitness, and environmental awareness, and activism. Local artist Chris Haberman (The Peoples Art of Portland Gallery) is curating the show, and will have two of his paintings showcased in our Red Rover Installation. Hope you can save the date and make a point of joining us on the street for this event! ![]() Hello peeps! Turns out that I have some cool happenings coming up for this month. First off is a Chocolate and Cheese reception celebrating the Winter Show that is hanging at Nirvana Cafe. Eight of my pieces are hanging in very good company with works by Julie Irmer and Kali Hoesch. The show is jam packed with bright colors and amazing textures and I hope you can come on over for the reception, enjoy the art, meet the artists and of course, enjoy some chocolate and cheese. The reception is this Saturday, Feb. 16, from 12 noon till 2pm. Nirvana is at 510 SE Morrison. ![]() Now hold on! February 16 is a busy art day for me! Because after enjoying cheese and chocolate at the Winter Show reception at Nirvana, that very evening is the opening for the Love of Portland show at People's Gallery. To the right here, you will see my painting that will be hanging for the show. The show is going to be a cool collection of different pieces from many artists all expressing what makes Portland so lovable. And we all know HOW lovable Portland is! This is going to be a really fun opening with great art and I hope you can plan on attending. Deets can be found on the poster above. ![]() And now for something COMPLETELY different. To the left here is a pic of Red Rover. R.R. is Art on Alberta's traveling mobile art gallery. I have been invited to work on a project that is excitingly different than my normal pursuits. I will be working with Peggy Pfenninger and Eve Connell as we create an installation piece for the Portland Timbers. The Timbers are going to be unveiling their new kits later this month and asked that some buzz be created at February's Last Thursday event on NE Alberta St. I can't say much more about it, and the piece will be kept hush hush until the official unveiling ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 28th. R.R. will be parked in front of the Talisman Gallery (1476 Northeast Alberta Street). Ceremonies should begin around 6pm. Hope you can come on out that night and check out the festivities! I hope to see your awesome face at some (Or all) of these events if you can swing it!
